Permanent Tattoos and Piercings (I would want to elaborate a bit)
◦ Keep your tattoo clean (clean it twice a day using wet wipes, non alcoholic or baby wipes are recommended)
◦ Moisturise your tattoo twice daily using antibiotic and unscented moisturisers (cetaphil body lotion is recommended)
◦ Avoid contact with water and soap for 10-12 days. Use a plastic sheet or baby oil to save from it.
◦ Don't pick on your tattoos, Peeling might cause damage to the skin and may cause cause fading
◦ Wear breathable clothing over your tattooed area, as friction due to synthetics material may cause irritation or redness.
◦ Always clean your hands before touching the tattooed area.
Keep your piercing clean using saline solution. Take a bowl of lukewarm water, add two pinches of salt in it and mix. Take a cotton bud and clean both side of your pierced holes properly. Do this twice a day for 15 days for best results.

Although deep into the skin, the tattoo healing still takes place and finishes around 40-45 days from the time it was tattooed.
The one tattooed, however must only take good care of it for the initial 2 weeks. As the upper layers are usually healed within that time frame.
No, it is not advisable to apply coconut oil or Vaseline on either your tattoos or piercings. As they tend stay on the surface for quite some while, and keeps the tattooed or piercing area which is healing, wet and which may cause the dirt in the area to collect and form a layer on the wet surface.
